| Penn Mutual Introduces Guaranteed Term 10-15-20 Life Insurance
Business Editors/Insurance Writers HORSHAM, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 2007--The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company (Penn Mutual), the country's second-oldest mutual life insurer, recently added Guaranteed Term 10-15-20 to its competitive line of life insurance and annuity products. Introduced to help consumers meet their immediate needs for financial protection and security with term insurance, the policy also provides them with options for permanent coverage in the future. All guarantees are based upon the claims-paying ability of the issuer. The fixed, or level, annual premium can make obtaining high levels of coverage surprisingly affordable. A love story: Black Betsy and Shoeless Joe Jackson
It has been weeks since Betsy's last sip of fresh oxygen. She is kept behind a door, locked from the outside. She shares her space with a stack of reading material, but there is no light to make the words dance. The whispers in her direction come infrequently. When they do, all anyone talks about is how old she looks, how heavy she is and how the blemishes on her 99-year-old complexion seem wider and deeper than black-and-white photographs indicate. Betsy has had 55 years to adjust to being a widow. What she did best, of course, was support her man, Joe — and make him look good. But then Joe left her, in December 1951. Betsy was in his office, keeping quiet as always and leaning against the wall next to his desk, when Joe's heart gave out. He never said goodbye.
LIC To e-enable Micro Insurance Agents
In a bid to increase its penetration into semi-urban and rural India, the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has pioneered micro-insurance. 3i infotech would develop and provide online/offline micro-insurance agent software to the insurance company. The application would be accessible to 10,000 agents, self- help groups and micro finance institutes across India. This is LIC's effort to issue one crore policies over the next two to three years in these regions. The policy would be available for a minimum of Rs 5,000. The goal is to empower the masses to financially protect themselves, a news release said here today. The software will enable the micro insurance agents to completely manage their insurance portfolio and provide them with reporting capabilities.
REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT AT THE NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CONGRESSIONAL ...
And, finally, if you're interested in controlling health care costs and if you want to make sure health care is available, elect people who will vote for medical liability reform -- there are too many lawsuits running too many good doctors out of practice in America. (Applause.) I'm looking forward to working with the United States Congress on an idea that we put forward that will make private health insurance more affordable and more accessible to more of our citizens. And that is to change the tax code. I believe strongly that we ought to create a standard tax deduction for health insurance like the standard tax deduction for dependents. A family with health insurance would get a $15,000 deduction from incoming payroll taxes, whether they buy coverage on their own or get it from their employer.

One size can't fit all in selecting insurance
Selecting life insurance should be one of the first tasks a person completes when developing a long-term financial strategy. For many folks, including myself, choosing the right policy can be a daunting task. Life insurance does not have a one-size-fits-all option because the right policy will be different for every person. And your needs will change as your family, income and debt change. A single person with no children earning $100,000 a year will have a different policy than a married person with two small children. Policies for spouses likely will vary depending on their financial contributions to the household and other factors. WHAT DO YOU NEED? Determining the type and size of policy depends on what a person wants the insurance payout to cover. Consumers must assess their lifestyle today and also consider what their needs may be in the future.
