Blue Cross Of California Health Insurance - Clear Answers To Tough ...

Northridge, California (FV Newswire) - Blue Cross of California health insurance provides clear answers to tough questions. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger recently proposed a plan to provide affordable health insurance to everyone in the state under the age of 18. The ultimate goal, according to Chuck Mondrus of American Health Insurance / Blue Cross California, is for everyone in California to have affordable health insurance.

"Blue Cross California," Mondrus adds, "shares the Governor's concern with California's cost and coverage challenges, and we view many components of the Governor's proposal as very positive. Theoretically, if everyone is insured, the cost of insurance would be less on a per-person basis."

He adds that, until a finished proposal exists, it's impossible to know the legislation's real impact.

State Farm Cuts Auto Rates By 5.4 Percent

Mar. 21--State Farm auto insurance customers can expect a 5.4 percent statewide average decline in premiums -- with First Coast customers enjoying savings of up to about 10 percent. The lower rates, which will go into effect Monday, represent an annual savings of $135 million to the company's Florida customers. State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co., which bills itself as the largest auto insurer in the Sunshine State, said it covers one in every five cars insured in Florida. Tuesday's rate reduction announcement, which reflects lower losses State Farm expects from its auto customers, comes about a month after the company said it would slash auto premiums by a statewide average of 16 percent once the Florida No-Fault law ends. Northeast Florida customers would see savings of about 12 percent to 17 percent on their auto policies.

Florida Health Insurance Consultants Needed For Best Rate Quote

Jean Chatzky of Money Magazine said in a recent interview, "the leading cause of personal bankruptcy is not wasteful spending or reckless investing but unpaid medical bills. Thats surprising, but only until you consider that at any moment some 40 million Americans are without health insurance and another 40 million have experienced a gap in coverage sometime over the past two years."

Q: WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

A: With the slow economy, some employers particularly small ones are faced with a choice, they can cut jobs or they can cut benefits. Many, for understandable reasons, opt to cut the latter. If you are laid off, you can often maintain your health coverage for up to 18 months through your former employers plan under a law called COBRA (the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act).

On my way to check out a mine in Hispaniola! (by Sean Brodrick)

Im not going there for rest and relaxation. Instead, Ill be investigating a small mining company. Its exploring a rare spot where gold is literally laying on the ground just waiting to be scooped up!

Im in a hurry to see this place in person. Especially since gold looks ready to move past $800 an ounce. More on why in a moment.

First, let me tell you about my golden ticket to the Dominican Republic. Lets start with a little background

Columbus Leaves a Legacy
Of Gold Mining in Hispaniola

In Grabbing Mexican Gold and Silver, I told you how the Spanish conquistadors came to the New World looking for precious metals. Well, that gold rush started with Christopher Columbus, who led his crew west. The second place he landed was the island of Hispaniola his flagship, the Santa Maria, wrecked there on Christmas Eve in 1492.

Nathan Kissee has a room full of Dukes of Hazzard memorabilia, 42 Dukes shirts, photo albums full of pictures of him with the stars from his favorite show such as Catherine Bach and Tom Wopat. He even has his own basset hound named Flash. But there is only one thing left to complete this loyal fans collection his own General Lee driven by Bo Duke (John Schneider) himself. And due to the efforts of a former Branson entertainer, Nathans dream could come true very soon.

Insure your loan?

If you are concerned about your health or job security then taking some form of Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) may provide peace of mind.PPI is also known as Accident,Sicknessand Unemployment(ASU) insurance. Never buy PPI with another financial product Whatever you do EveryInvestor advises that you do not accept PPIbundled with a loan or any other financial product. Only ever take this insurance outfrom an independent provider as a standalone product. Most online loan quotes automatically include the price of a costly PPI policy. Always recalculate for a quote without PPI.

'India, China can script HP's success'

BRISBANE: India, which is yet to make a mark among countries considered 'matured markets', was the focus of all discussions at the Hewlett-Packard Software Universe meet at Brisbane where top honchos of the company got together to formulate future strategies to retain its numero uno position in the world.

For the first time after HP acquired software giant Mercury, top executives of the two companies came together with their associates and partners in a week-long networking event that unfolded the IT giant's software portfolio, promising to change the way business is done.

Speaking on the combined software strength of HP and Mercury, Thomas E Hogan — the senior vice-president responsible for all software functions of the group with a focus on linking business and IT — said India and China were the two countries that could script the company's future success in this segment.

Remedy sought for health premiums

Saying Starbucks workers get better health benefits, three state employees delivered 3,000 petition signatures to legislative leaders Wednesday in support of lower insurance premiums.

"If baristas can make better health insurance than state troopers, that's just criminal," Lori Ganni told House Speaker Andrew Romanoff and Senate President Joan Fitz-Gerald during a morning meeting.

Ganni, who works for the Department of Labor and Employment, and two other state workers delivered the pile of petitions that Colorado Association of Public Employees gathered.

This year's budget proposes increasing the state's contribution to employee health plans by 10 percent, but Fitz-Gerald and Roman off agreed the state needs to try to do more.

"It used to be the state employee benefits package was so good it made up for the low pay," Fitz-Gerald said.

Is Breast Cancer Different in White and Hispanic Women?

Summary: Breast cancer seems to behave differently in Hispanic women than in white women, even when they get equal care, a new study suggests. According to research findings from the University of Colorado, Hispanic women with breast cancer tend to be younger and to have larger, more advanced tumors. That suggests there may be some biological or genetic determinants in how this disease affects women of different ethnicities, the researchers conclude.

Why it's important: Although breast cancer is less common among Hispanic women than white women, it is still the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer death among Hispanic women. Moreover, statistics show that Hispanic women are less likely to be diagnosed with early-stage tumors, which are easier to treat, and more likely to be diagnosed with larger tumors.

Tax would help health-care problem, officials say

MUNCIE -- As the state Legislature this week debated a cigarette tax that would fund health-care programs, officials and advocates say something must be done to control rising health-care costs.

The state commerce secretary, appearing in Muncie on Thursday, argued that high health-care costs can discourage companies from locating in Indiana.

State Farm to accelerate settlements in Mississippi

NEW YORK, March 19 (Reuters) - State Farm Mutual, Mississippi's largest insurer, said on Monday it has started reviewing claims by as many as 35.000 Gulf Coast residents whose homes were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, in order to speed up the payment process.

The company said it would use criteria set out in a failed settlement of a class-action lawsuit. It said the move resulted from a deal, which makes millions of additional dollars available to homeowners in three coastal counties, between the insurer and State Insurance Commissioner George Dale.

"The process will put dollars into people's hands more quickly," according to a statement read by company spokesman Fraser Engerman.

State Farm said it was beginning an immediate revaluation and payment program for the claims of Mississippians whose homes had been completely destroyed by the August 2005 hurricane, the most expensive storm in history.

Lower those insurance rates

It was a few months after 9/11 and my client and I were meeting with her insurance agent. "Natalie," he said with a serious expression. "That event really shocked the industry. The whole market almost collapsed! So ... as a result your business insurance premiums are going up 20 percent this year. Those darn terrorists. Now please sign here."

Not to be unsympathetic or anything, but Natalie and I both found it a little strange that a couple of buildings fall in one city in North America and the entire insurance industry almost goes under. Hello? So how reliable is our insurance coverage anyway? Are we really getting value from our premiums?

Creative destruction long overdue

Conservation programs and universal health care aren't the problem; they are the solution. Environmental rules save resources. Universal health care saves lives. And both create jobs.

The North Pole and Antarctica and glaciers from Greenland to the Himalayas are melting. The plagues that we are seeing — just the "A's" including allergies, Alzheimer's, asthma and autism — are all linked to the environment and point to a community responsibility in health care. At last, the American people and the Congress understand that, and President George W. Bush is the only one still saying "What, me worry?"

With the last election, the tide shifted not just politically but environmentally as people came to realize that the cost of the Bush administration's policy of protecting the jobs and the profits of the status quo was just too high.

Reject Bush's Health Care Plan

For the last six years, the Bush administration and Republican Congress have put forth their solution to sky-rocketing health costs: consumer-driven health care. Underlying this policy lies the belief that Americans over-consume health care. Labeling this a "moral hazard" problem, proponents push for high-deductible health plans that make consumers spend out-of-pocket from the first dollar of coverage up to the plan deductible. The theory is that facing a greater share of the costs of medical care will make people better health-care consumers, cutting back on wasteful spending, spurring more competitive health care markets and, hopefully, lower prices. The Bush administration has offered tax breaks on out-of-pocket spending (health savings accounts or HSAs) for enrolling in qualifying high-deductible plans.

Drug firms check out pets

Pfizer Inc., perhaps best known for bringing blockbuster cholesterol drugs and impotency pills to market to treat humans, is lately making headlines treating man's best friend.

Pfizer scored two firsts within the last two months after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved its prescription medication for overweight dogs and a drug to prevent and treat vomiting in dogs due to motion sickness.

Though drugs for pets represent just a fraction of the U.S. prescription market, big drugmakers like Pfizer, Abbott Laboratories and Novartis AG see growth potential in the sector.

First, there's the numbers: Six of 10 U.S. households have a pet in a market of more than 66 million dogs and more than 78 million cats, industry analysts say.

In addition, pet owners are increasingly willing to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on care that goes beyond the traditional treatments for ticks, fleas and rabies into areas that range from arthritis and anxiety to obesity and diabetes.

Women's Health and Wellness: Dental Tips Booklets Help Employers ...

Philadelphia, PA (PRWeb) March 23, 2007 -- OraMedica International, LLC, a leading provider of dental-systemic health and wellness education, announced a new dental information health tips booklet, "Take a Holistic Bite Out of Dentistry for Women," designed to raise awareness and improve the health of women in the workplace.

"Dental conditions have more to do with overall health than most people are aware of," says Dr. Andrea Brockman, president of OraMedica, as well as a dentist and former coronary care nurse. "For instance, employers recognize that obesity is a major risk factor for heart disease and diabetes, and take positive steps to encourage better food choices and physical activity."

However, food choices, digestion, and absorption of nutrients are greatly affected by chewing, which can be hindered by tooth or jaw pain, mouth infections, missing teeth, or dry mouth.
